Family Addiction Therapy
Home / Family Therapy
Northstars Family Therapy is a type of psychological counseling in which the goal is to improve familial relationships and communication. Northstar IOP offers clients the opportunity to meet with a therapist and their loved ones in order to assist in rebuilding relationships, providing the family with an understanding of addictions and the recovery process, and to explore underlying issues effecting the relationship. These sessions allow both the client and the loved one to address their concerns, learn about each others needs, and to build healthy communications.
Family therapy is often short term. Family therapy involves all members who are able to participate at the given time. These sessions can enable families to strengthen their interpersonal skills even after therapy is completed. Group and individual discussion and education focuses on understanding the impact of alcoholism and drug abuse on the individual and their family, learning the effects of healthy communication, and introduction to 12-Step philosophy for the family.
Additionally, families will be educated regarding enabling, relapse prevention, and understanding the physical, mental, and spiritual effects of addiction on the entire family system. If you or a loved one need addiction treatment, we would like to recommend the PAX Memphis.
